Our Projects
As a think tank, we believe that policy recommendations and capacity building programs must be rooted in strategic, field-based research. That’s why we’re committed to providing practical projects backed by rigorous research.
Our projects provide data, analysis, and policy recommendations on circumpolar security challenges. The Arctic Institute’s team uses research to empower northern communities to be more secure through network building, workshops, summer schools, and knowledge exchange programs.

The aim of the ArcBlue project is to contribute to both blue value creation and development of competence within the blue sectors of fisheries and aqua-/mariculture in the Arctic regions of Northern Norway, Alaska, and Greenland.

Our Approach
At The Arctic Institute, we use a three-pronged methodology to make change happen.

Provide research-based solutions to current and future Arctic challenges
Our vision is to work for a more just, secure, and sustainable Arctic. To fulfil our mission, our organization has created a network of experts to identify and work with specific governance issues and develop adequate solutions to current and future challenges to Arctic security.

Co-create with partner organizations, communities and knowledge holders
To achieve our mission, we partner with organizations who share our commitment to building a more just, sustainable, and secure Arctic. We focus on building collaborations with Arctic and non-Arctic organizations to learn from and work towards a common goal.

Contribute to Arctic Research Worldwide
Education and dissemination are key to our mission and vision. Together, we help experts communicate and share their research to a wider audience. Our goal is to engage the broader public and raise awareness about how we can work together to work for a more just, secure, and sustainable Arctic.
