Val Muzik is a Research Associate at The Arctic Institute. Her PhD research at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada focuses on international theory and the security and governance implications of computational technologies for threat perception and assessment, both within and beyond the Arctic. Other research themes that Val has previously presented and published on include Arctic multi-track diplomacy and the intersections between security, data, and virtuality.
Previously, Val was the lead writer of the Institute’s weekly news analysis publication, The Arctic This Week’s Take Five, from 2016-2017, and has been involved with the Model Arctic Council’s initiatives in the US and Finland.
Val holds a MA in International Relations from McMaster University and a BA (Hons.) in Political Science from York University.
