Tara Corpuz is a Research Intern at The Arctic Institute, working with TAI’s Book Review section. She is also the Government Agency and Engagement Coordinator with the United States National Science Foundation funded Center for Braiding Indigenous Knowledges and Science (CBIKS) at University of Massachusetts Amherst. The first NSF funded center of its kind, US NSF CBIKS focuses on ethically and effectively braiding Western and Indigenous science research and knowledge to address climate change, cultural places, and food security. There, she focuses on facilitating meaningful relationships between government agencies and Indigenous communities to foster inclusive and culturally informed decision making. Previously, she has worked in publishing in editorial and production, most recently at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Her research interests focus on how Indigenous knowledge systems and Western science converge to address challenges in One Health, environmental advocacy, and policy. Tara is studying Natural Resources Management and Sustainable Ecosystems at Harvard Extension School. She holds a BA in English Literature from the University of Alaska Anchorage, a Certificate in Book Publishing from Denver Publishing Institute at the University of Denver, and a Certificate in Understanding and Operationalizing One Health from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
