Estelle Lorang is a Research Associate at The Arctic Institute, where she acts as a contributing writer for the institute’s weekly publication, The Arctic This Week App. Her primary areas of expertise encompass EU Arctic policy, sustainable development, climate change, and multilateral diplomacy.
In her most recent role at the Stockholm Environment Institute, Estelle made contributions to research focusing on climate adaptation and transboundary climate risks in the Hindu Kush Himalaya, a region that shares similarities with the Arctic. Prior to this, Estelle gained experience as a trainee at the European Union Delegation to the United Nations in Geneva, where she supported digital, trade, and environmental portfolios. She also served as a project management intern at the International Polar Foundation, contributing to the organization of the multi-stakeholder conference, the Arctic Futures Symposium. Additionally, Estelle accumulated valuable experience through an internship within the Sustainable Transport Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, where she contributed to the outreach campaign of the 84th session of the Inland Transport Committee an intergovernmental forum discussing sustainable connectivity.
Estelle holds a Master’s Degree in International Development from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, a Master’s Degree in European Policy from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Relations from the University of Westminster in London, UK.
